LOYB thanks our donors and volunteers for another successful distribution. A shout out to our awesome volunteers who came out for three days in the heat and humidity and packed and distributed over 250 bags of groceries and produce. Our large families received four bags of groceries with a combined weight of 90 pounds. Our bags for the three families contained 60 pounds of groceries, and for our smallest families 4 bags of groceries that weighed 47 pounds. In addition, all families received a bag of produce, a large box of cereal, bread, and a package of chicken as well as a bag of toiletries. Love on Your Back gives a special thanks to Lexi and her team at the Wave-on-Wave Hair Salon in Bonsall River Village for providing back to school haircuts for the students in our program. Their kindness was appreciated by our parents and students. The staff came in during the evening to provide their services. Our families were thrilled with their new haircuts and appreciated all the effort the stylists made. Thank you, Wave on Wave for your continued support of our families! Love on Your Back gives a special thanks to Lexi and her team at the Wave-on-Wave Hair Salon in Bonsall River Village for providing back to school haircuts for the students in our program. Their kindness was appreciated by our parents and students. The staff came in during the evening to provide their services. We also thank our volunteers who came for three days in the heat and humidity to pack and distribute over two hundred bags of groceries and produce. A shout out to the North County Food Bank for their donation of chicken, eggs, bread and produce for our families. The school year begins next month, and we are asking for donations for the program. Food prices continue to spiral upwards. Most of our staples are bought in retail stores, so our monthly costs are increasing. A special thank you to Samantha Stein for organizing a two-week food drive at Bonsall Elementary School. Classrooms collected macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and soup for the program. Thank you also to parents who made monetary donations. It is a crucial time for our families as the price of food, gasoline, housing, and utilities are rising. Most of our students will not be receiving school lunches or breakfasts during the summer. LOYB has decided to continue our distributions during the summer months of June and July. Thank you to our volunteers who work throughout the month purchasing food from the North County Foodbank, Dollar Tree, Walmart, Costco, and Grocery Outlet. After purchasing the groceries, they transport them to our storeroom and put them away for the next distribution. There can be up to ten trips a month. A shout out to Joe Valdez, who helps the program every month to distribute groceries at Pala. Love on Your Back had a successful Christmas distribution thanks to our volunteers and generous donors. Volunteers old and new worked five days to prepare and pack groceries, toys, and clothes. A special shout out to Jenn Grubaugh for organizing all the clothes and toys for our families. Thank you to North Coast Church, Fallbrook and the Herb Weston Law Group for their generous donation of toys, games, books, and clothes that brightened the holidays for the 150 children in the program.
